Exploring the Sacred Heritage of Masjid al-Haram

Masjid al-Haram, located in the heart of Makkah, is the holiest mosque in Islam. It’s history dates to the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Isma’il (Ishmael), who were divinely instructed to build the Kaaba at this site.

  • Maqam Ibrahim (The Station of Abraham)
  • Maqam Ibrahim is a sacred site within Masjid al-Haram, housing the footprints of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) standing as a testament to Prophet Ibrahim's role in constructing the Kaaba.

  • Hateem (Semi-Circular Enclosure)
  • Hateem (Hijr Ismail) is a semi-circular section adjacent to the Kaaba, originally part of the Kaaba's structure, it was left outside during reconstruction. Praying inside the Hateem is considered as praying inside the Kaaba.

  • Black Stone (Al-Hajar al-Aswad)
  • Set in the eastern corner of Kaaba, the sacred stone was brought down from heavens by angel Jibrael once Kaaba was completed by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). Each round of Tawaf starts/stops at the Black Stone.
